Nibble

What it is

Nibble is a macOS menu bar app that monitors your Anthropic Claude API usage in real time. It sits quietly in your menu bar, shows you what you’ve spent, and lets you get back to work.

Why it exists

Born from the experience of checking your Anthropic dashboard and discovering you’d burned through your budget three days ago. The API usage page exists, but nobody checks it proactively. Nibble puts that number where you’ll actually see it — next to your clock, your WiFi icon, and all the other things you glance at without thinking.

What it does

Menu bar native. Not a web app, not a dashboard you have to remember to visit. It’s just there.

Real-time tracking. Polls the Anthropic API for your current billing period usage. Shows spend, token counts, and cost breakdown by model.

Threshold alerts. Set a budget and Nibble will let you know when you’re getting close. Find out before you hit the wall, not after.

Lightweight. Tauri 2 with a Rust backend. Minimal resource usage — it’s monitoring your API spend, not contributing to it.

The name

A nibble is half a byte. It’s also what you do to a donut. The version codenames are all pastries because that’s the energy we’re going for — sweet, small, satisfying.
